Working at the confluence of environment, livelihood, education, health and gender justice
Jhelum Foundation began with a simple but urgent observation: environmental degradation and social exclusion are tightly linked. When local ecosystems fail, traditional livelihoods vanish — and the burden falls hardest on women, youth and marginalized communities.
We build programs that treat those links holistically. Combining ecological restoration with skills training, market-linkages and advocacy, our approach is practical, scalable and people-centred.
Integrated design: Projects combine ecological, social and economic interventions so environmental health and livelihoods improve together.
Partnership-led: We work with government departments, the Indian Army, private travel platforms, and local stakeholders.
Community ownership: Local residents co-design activities and manage assets to ensure sustainability.
